Ramadan Momentum at School: Integrating Financial Education into Islamic Boarding School Activities

WIN Media, Makassar, 18/2/2026 – The month of Ramadan is not only a moment to enhance spirituality but also a golden opportunity for the education sector to instill financial literacy values in students. The Islamic boarding school activities (Pesantren Kilat) routinely held by schools during the holy month are now beginning to include practical and Islamic financial management materials.

Ahmad Arfah, a Teacher at MAN 1 Makassar, emphasized that integrating financial education into Pesantren Kilat activities is a strategic step towards shaping a generation that is not only religiously intelligent but also wise in managing wealth.

“So far, Pesantren Kilat has been mostly filled with lectures on specific acts of worship like prayer and fasting. In fact, muamalah (social relations), including financial matters, has a very large portion in Islam. We want to fill that gap,” said Arfah.

According to Arfah, there are at least four financial topics that can be integrated into the Pesantren Kilat curriculum. First, the concept of halal and haram in earning a living and in modern financial transactions such as online loans and investments. Second, the management of Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS) to ensure it reaches the right targets.

Third, simple financial planning for teenagers, including distinguishing between needs and wants. Fourth, an introduction to Sharia-compliant financial products like savings accounts and financing that adhere to Islamic principles.

” Students are not only given theory but also hands-on practice. For example, they are asked to create a personal shopping budget for Ramadan, complete with allocations for infaq and charity,” he explained.

He gave an example of the “School Ramadan Market” activity, held as a mini-business laboratory. Students take turns being sellers and buyers, learning about pricing, profit, and business ethics in Islam. The proceeds are then managed collectively for social activities.

“Children learn that business should not involve cheating, scales must be accurate, and profits should not be excessive. These are financial management values taught by the Prophet Muhammad that they can directly practice,” added Arfah.

Arfah also highlighted the importance of involving parents in this program. The school sends guides home so that discussions about pocket money, THR (holiday allowance), and Lebaran shopping become moments for continuous education.

“Don’t let what is taught at school about saving and frugality contradict habits at home, which tend to be consumptive during Ramadan. The synergy between school and parents is key.”

From an institutional perspective, he encourages the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Education to develop official guidelines for integrating financial literacy into religious activities at schools. According to him, Pesantren Kilat is an ideal vehicle because it is attended by almost all Muslim students and is conducted in an atmosphere conducive to character building.

“Pesantren Kilat is a golden moment. The spiritual atmosphere makes children more receptive to good values, including how to manage sustenance (rizq) in a blessed way. It would be a shame to waste this opportunity only on monotonous lectures,” he concluded.


Momentum Ramadhan di Sekolah: Mengintegrasikan Pendidikan Keuangan dalam Kegiatan Pesantren Kilat

WIN Media, Makassar, 18/2/2026 – Bulan Ramadhan tidak hanya menjadi momen meningkatkan spiritualitas, tetapi juga peluang emas bagi dunia pendidikan untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai literasi keuangan kepada para siswa. Kegiatan pesantren kilat yang rutin digelar sekolah selama bulan suci kini mulai diisi dengan materi pengelolaan keuangan yang islami dan praktis.

Ahmad Arfah, Guru MAN 1 Makassar, menegaskan bahwa integrasi pendidikan keuangan dalam kegiatan pesantren kilat merupakan langkah strategis membentuk generasi yang tidak hanya cerdas secara agama, tetapi juga bijak dalam mengelola harta.

“Selama ini pesantren kilat lebih banyak diisi ceramah ibadah mahdah seperti shalat dan puasa. Padahal, muamalah atau hubungan antar manusia, termasuk urusan keuangan, porsinya sangat besar dalam Islam. Kita ingin mengisi kekosongan itu,” ujar Arfah.

Menurut Arfah, setidaknya ada empat materi keuangan yang dapat diintegrasikan dalam kurikulum pesantren kilat. Pertama, konsep halal dan haram dalam mencari nafkah serta transaksi keuangan modern seperti pinjaman online dan investasi. Kedua, manajemen Zakat, Infak, dan Sedekah (ZIS) yang tepat sasaran.

Ketiga, perencanaan keuangan sederhana untuk remaja, termasuk membedakan kebutuhan dan keinginan. Keempat, pengenalan produk keuangan syariah seperti tabungan dan pembiayaan yang sesuai prinsip Islam.

“Siswa tidak hanya diberi teori, tetapi praktik langsung. Misalnya, mereka diminta membuat rencana anggaran belanja pribadi selama Ramadhan, lengkap dengan alokasi untuk infak dan sedekah,” jelasnya.

Ia mencontohkan kegiatan “Pasar Ramadhan Sekolah” yang digelar sebagai laboratorium bisnis mini. Siswa bergiliran menjadi penjual dan pembeli, belajar tentang harga, keuntungan, dan etika bisnis dalam Islam. Hasil penjualannya kemudian dikelola bersama untuk kegiatan sosial.

“Anak-anak belajar bahwa bisnis itu tidak boleh curang, timbangan harus tepat, dan keuntungan tidak boleh berlebihan. Ini nilai-nilai manajemen keuangan yang diajarkan Rasulullah dan langsung mereka praktikkan,” tambah Arfah.

Arfah juga menyoroti pentingnya melibatkan orang tua dalam program ini. Pihak sekolah mengirimkan panduan ke rumah agar diskusi tentang uang saku, THR, dan belanja Lebaran menjadi momen edukasi berkelanjutan.

“Jangan sampai apa yang diajarkan di sekolah tentang hemat dan menabung, justru bertentangan dengan kebiasaan di rumah yang cenderung konsumtif saat Ramadhan. Sinergi sekolah dan orang tua itu kunci.”

Dari sisi kelembagaan, ia mendorong Kementerian Agama dan Kementerian Pendidikan untuk menyusun panduan resmi integrasi literasi keuangan dalam kegiatan keagamaan di sekolah. Menurutnya, pesantren kilat adalah wahana yang tepat karena diikuti hampir seluruh siswa muslim dan dilaksanakan dalam suasana yang kondusif untuk pembentukan karakter. “Pesantren kilat itu momentum emas.

Suasana spiritual membuat anak lebih mudah menerima nilai-nilai kebaikan, termasuk soal bagaimana mengelola rezeki dengan berkah. Sayang jika disia-siakan hanya dengan ceramah-ceramah monoton,” pungkasnya.
